WHOLISTIC EQUINE CENTER LLC

The whole horse holistically, Empowering horse & rider!

PROGRAMS OFFERED
Pre-Training or Pre-Purchase Evaluation— $75
We offer Pre-Purchase Consultations for those wanting to find a horse that is suitable for their ability and personality. We will assess the horse’s personality, temperament, conformation, and suitability matching it to the prospective owner’s personality and ability.

1.5 Hour Bodywork Session— $75
We offer bodywork sessions incorporating TTouch, Connected Bodywork and the Masterson Method. Bodywork is something that we believe is essential to the equine well-being in terms of behavior and performance. All of these methods offer practical ways to identify and release tension patterns and poor postural habits, which enable the horse to make positive behavioral changes on the ground and under the saddle.

Connected Riding Lessons —

We offer lessons to students of all ages, abilities (from beginner to the advanced rider) and disciplines.
By utilizing the safe, practical and gentle techniques of the Tellington Touch Equine Awareness Method (TTEAM) combined with groundwork and balanced Connected Riding instruction, we provide tools that enhance communication, trust and strong bonds with horses.

Taking into account differences in learning styles, the student learns how to “read” a horse’s body language and respect what the horse is “saying”. Both the human and horse student are taught exercises that are easily understood, fun to do, yet free of undue stress, repetition or fear of pain. Developing this fundamental skill rewards riders with a sense of kinship and mastery with horses.

Connected Riding lessons help teach a safe and balanced seat that can be used across all riding disciplines. We identify and address habitual bracing patterns in both horse and rider then using kinesthetic and practical imagery, show students how to overcome fear and tension while getting in touch with their core strength.

In the beginning, lessons are held in the safe environment of the indoor arena then progress to the outdoor arena and finally to the trails. As competency increases, games are incorporated into the lessons to help hone skills already learned.

Lessons are spent gaining confidence while learning how to approach a horse, halter and lead in from the pasture/paddock, groom, basic TTouch for Trust, pick out hooves, and tack up (put on the saddle pad, saddle, and bridle). Groundwork such as safe leading techniques, help students get to know the horse while warming him up for riding. After the ride the student leads the horse back to the barn, removes tack, brushes again and gives treats before putting him back in the pasture/paddock.

TRAINERS LAURA FABER-MORRIS, SHANNON HAYCOX AND STUDENT SIERRA RIDE OUT THE LAST MOMENTS OF DAYLIGHT.

"I first took my horse to WEC because I felt stuck. Fear and lack of confidence kept me literally spinning in small circles, and I couldn’t see how to break free.  Add to this equation a complicated, high strung, young Arabian mare, and I knew that I needed special help. That came from the very patient and innovative staff at WEC. Laura has a knack for knowing how to create the right environment for success for both the horse and rider. Often the process doesn’t look like traditional methods, which is precisely why it works. Sometimes the outsider may not be able to see the huge leaps that happen internally, but they eventually show up on the outside as well. Some of the most frequent words heard at WEC are “chunk it down”, meaning breaking it down into small enough pieces until both horse and rider grasp the concept. Often advances happen in baby steps, and then all of a sudden someone says “wow!” when the progress that has been made becomes visible. I still have fears and my horse still has quirks, but they are no longer debilitating. Because these fears and quirks weren’t dismissed and instead were acknowledged and embraced, we are working together to become the partners that I always dreamed of. " —Jennifer Hintz
